Official signals from the Navy about the impending and then actual end of hostilities against Japan

Hi Mac,
Happy New Year to you and Denise. I hope you both had a great festive season.

Last year I managed to purchase a second hand copy of G Herman Gills RAN 42 - 45 book. I already had the first book and wanted the complete set. As they arent readily available in Dymocks it took a little while. Anyway, I had a good flick through over the break and to my surprise, hidden away in the pages of the book were a couple of folded pages. When I opened them I discovered that they were copies of the actual signals received by the Allied fleet indicating the Japanese intentions of surrender and the actual messages sent on their acceptance of the terms.

I don’t know who has written the text as there is no indication of the author. Not sure whether you have seen these or not previously. Very interesting.

Enjoy.

Regards,
Chris
