Bizarre Meeting. Two atomic powered submarines, one British, one French crash into each other in the vast reaches of the Atlantic Ocean.

The odds of two independently operating Nuclear powered submarines running into one another given the vast amount of sea room available  in  the Atlantic Ocean must be enormous.

I am beholden to the Times for this report by Charles Bremner and David Brown in our National newspaper The Australian dated February 18th. 2009.

The last underwater collision was in 2005, when in the Pacific, the US boat USS San Fransisco hit an underwater mountain killing one sailor and injuring another 24.

Silent service: French and British crash subs deaf to each other

THE French nuclear submarine that collided with a British sub in the Atlantic remained unaware that it had rammed and damaged HMS Vanguard until days later, when it was informed by the Royal Navy.
