The odds of two independently operating Nuclear powered submarines running into one another given the vast amount of sea room available in the Atlantic Ocean must be enormous. The last underwater collision was in 2005, when in the Pacific, the US boat USS San Fransisco hit an underwater mountain killing one sailor and injuring another 24.
