William Ford sailed in M/S East Indian

Dear Sir,
Would you be able to tell me any information about my uncle William Ford’s ship.  It was torpedoed on November 3, 1942. It was named USS East Indian.

Thank you for your time,
Nancy DeMarco

Nancy,

The East Indian was a US Motor Ship freighter not a US Navy ship, here are some details and a picture of her for you.

See "13 DAYS ADRIFT By M. STANLEY MACLEAN"

Some detail of the German U-Boat U-191, herself sunk on the 23 rd. of April 1943, with all her crew dead.
