Victorian Artificial Reef Society seeking to place the EX-HMAS Canberra as an artificial reef out from Point Lonsdale Hello Mac, Your are right .it is interesting the people we meet on the internet….so… a friend sent me an email about a talk you are doing next Thursday in South Yarra..I am planning on coming along if I am permitted to do so. The next bit is interesting! I found your website..just brilliant Mac. Then I read your comments on the Canberra and the battle of Savo Island. Why I am interested? I have a committee of six persons who are The Victorian Artificial Reef Society Inc and I am President…We are working with the Dept of Defence through Minister Brendan Nelson and the Victorian Government to place the EX-HMAS Canberra as an artificial reef out from Point Lonsdale. Nice to hear from you, and thank you for your kind comments about AHOY. It is a joint project with my webmaster Terry Kearns in Atlanta Georgia turning my research and writings into the site that is out there for whoever may chance to log on. The ex Canberra 11, proposed dive site is an interesting project, Denise and I were guests for her decommissioning on November 12, 2005, at HMAS Sterling, would you be interested in any photos of that event to add to your web site? The then Minister of Defence Robert Hill's father had served as a rating with me in Canberra 1, although he died some years ago, we were able to have a conversation about his Dad at the decommissioning.
