Trying to locate models of the Shropshire for a family history display

Dear Mr Gregory,

My brother-in-law and I are trying to locate models of the Shropshire for a family history display (Coral Sea).  We have 2 family members who served aboard; Kevin Hancock and Matt (David ) Crooks.

We have found models of other County Class cruisers (Devonshire and Sussex). Are you aware of any commercially available models of the Shropshire or similar vessels that could be converted.

We would be very grateful if you could e-mail any photos or images of the superstructure.

We thank you and congratulate you on an excellent site.

Yours sincerely,
David Davidge

David,

I am not aware of a commercial model of HMAS Shropshire.

At the Museum at HMAS Cerberus ( Flinders Naval Depot ) there is quite a large model of her, made by one of her crew members Lindsay Dennis who has died since he presented his model to the Museum.

In Stan Nicholls book "HMAS Shropshire" which is now up on the web in its entirety, and the URL is: http://www.hmasshropshire.com/ are two photos of a model of the ship, and I will E-Mail copies separately, I will also send several other photos, plus a painting by Randall Wilson called Homeward Bound, it is HMAS Shropshire at speed ,returning to Sydney after being part of the occupation force in Japan, the timing about November 1945.

Thank you for your kind words about Ahoy, my friend in Atlanta ,Georgia Terry Kearns translates my writing and research into the site you have found. We work as a team, and are always pleased to have feed back.

Sorry I could not be of much help in your quest for a model.

Best wishes.
Mac.Gregory.
