Ship that sailed from Australia in 1862 for Boston supposing captured by the Alabama?

Hi Mac. I wonder if you can help us, I am looking for a ship that sailed from Australia in 1862 for Boston supposing captured by the Alabama, and if possible a passenger list, I am looking for a man who claims he was taken prisoner and later signed on as one of the crew.

His name is Samuel Roberts I think he is a fraud as he is not listed anywhere, but I enclose a copy of a newspaper clipping dated April 21 1916, he supposed to have jumped ship in Cape Town but so far I have not come up with him, reason for the search is we are planning to put a plaque to the ENRICA in Moelfre Bay next year, below is article , the report does not stand up, the ship is not the Alabama too many guns and white stripe plus the men look like Yankees.

hope you can help
Neville Wantling.

Neville.

Here is a list of British crew who served in CSS Alabama.

Hi Mac,I emailed you a few weeks ago about Sam Roberts, well he has turned up as crew on the Tuscaloosa, signed on at sea - ordinary seaman, in his obituary it says he lived in Australia for 5 years and set sail for Boston, he could have sailed for Calcutta and boarded the T.B.Wales of Boston, and taken captive by the Alabama I am looking for the passenger list of the T.B.Wales can you help.

Regards Nev Wantling

Neville,

I cannot find a passenger list for Thomas B Wales in 1862, but I thought that Alabama sank her before she reached Calcutta.

Best wishes.
Mac.
