G'day Mac,

I'm trying to find some information on HMAS ADELAIDE between May 1942 - Aug 1943, which is when my Grandfather served on her. I know that she was in Sydney the night of the Japanese submarine attacks, and thanks to your site, I am also aware of her encounter with the RAMSES. But apart from the general statement that she carried out convoy escort duties and patrols operating out of Fremantle, I have no other information on her movements during this time. Are you able to provide any further details?

I will send you several scanned pages from  HMAS Adelaide 1922-1946. A Short History of the Cruiser by Lieutenant Greg Swinden RAN, published by the Naval Historical Society of Australia Inc. in 1996, that cover the May 1942, August 1943 period.

Too much of our Naval History will soon be lost if it is not documented, and its one of my Hobby Horses to encourage people like yourself Stephen to Get it Down!
