Possible location for the George.S.Livanos

HI Mac:

We have some fresh info on a possible location for the George. S. Livanos of Jervis Bay. We will go out to confirm the marks hopefully very soon, and dive it after that. It's a little deeper than the William Dawes in 75 fathoms, but that should not be a problem.

Do you have any info on this ship, or pictures? I heard that it may have been longer than the William Dawes, but less Tonnage.

So any information on it would be great.

Kind Regards,

Good morning Samir,

Here are some details about George S Livanos. (Billy McGee was able to find then for me. She was owned by Livanos Maritime Company Limited, built in 1937 at W.H.Gray and Co at West Hartlepool, UK.

Her Length: 431.1 feet, Beam: 56.9 feet, Draught:25.2 feet. Speed 10.5 knots. Gross Registered Tonnage: 4,835 tons.

Dead Weight Tonnage: 9,100 tons.

I trust this may help when you first dive on her.

Best regards,
Mac.

HI Mac:

This is great, thank you.

TK,

Isn't the picture of the tea cup from Bega quite amazing, sitting on the bottom since the wreck of 1908, in such good condition?

Samir has told me, that in March 2005 at a Sydney Dive Conference, their main speaker will be Leigh Bishop from UK, the one who found and photographed the German U-Boat in the English Channel, that had but one survivor, and we managed to find him in Vancouver. I will have to see if I can be in Sydney at that time to try and meet with Leigh.

Amazing how so many of our stories lead to other people with whom we have been involved. Most of it all purely due to your offer of involvement with AHOY, of course without all your wonderful work our joint effort would not exist, and many of the people around the world who find us, and seem to enjoy some aspect there, would have been deprived.

Again my humble thanks to you Terry for it all , you have certainly enriched my life.

Mac.
