I AM RESEARCHING MY FATHERS NAVAL RECORD. HE SERVED IN BOTH WARS,ENLISTED WHEN HE WAS 16YRS OLD, BORN 1/JANUARY 1900.HIS LAST SHIP WAS HMS VETERAN. HE SERVED ON BOARD FROM 17TH OCTOBER 1939 TO 20TH SEPTEMBER
1941.

I HAVE RECEIVED A LOT OF INFORMATION ABOUT THE VETERAN FROM MR JOHN LAWTON OF WREXHAM NORTH WALES U/K.BUT HE WAS UNABLE TO ASSIST ANY FURTHER. I AM TRYING TO LOCATE ANY PHOTOGRAPHS THAT MAY HAVE BEEN TAKEN OF THE CREW DURING HIS TIME ON BOARD THAT MAY SHOW HIM.

WHEN MY FATHER DIED IN 1952, MY MOTHER DESTROYED ALL PHOTOGRAPHS OF HIM.

MAY BE FAMILY DESCENDENTS OF CREW MEMBERS MAY BE ABLE TO ASSIST IN THIS MATTER.(HELP ANYBODY)

I have not been able to turn up any crew photographs for you.

In John Lawton's book " The Proudest of Her Line." at Page 6 of the Mess Book at the end of the book No. Five Mess members are listed, and your Father appears, and here is that entry.

Here is a History of HMS Veteran which may be of interest for you.

It of course continues on after your Father had left the ship, until she was sunk, losing all hands.
