O. G. Lloyd served in HMS Veteran

HI MAC.

HAVE JUST LOOKED AT YOUR WEB SITE REF HMS VETERAN. MY FATHER SERVED ON BOARD, (HMS Veteran) 1ST JULY1940 TO 20 SEPTEMBER 1941, HIS NAME WAS OG LLOYD SERVICE
NO J 56551.

I AM TRYING TO FIND ANY PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE CREW DURING THIS PERIOD, PERHAPS SOME OF YOUR CONTACTS ON THE WEB COULD HELP. AS I ONLY HAVE ONE PHOTO OF HIM.

THE REASON I AM ASKING IS THAT I AM RESEARCHING HIS ROYAL NAVAL SERVICE IN WW1 & WW2. MY FATHER RAN AWAY FROM HOME AND SIGNED ON WHEN HE WAS 16YRS OLD IN 1916 AND SIGNED FOR 12YRS. HE WAS THEN CALLED UP IN 1938.

CAN YOU HELP. I AM HIS SON. MIKE LLOYD.

MANY THANKS FOR ANY INFO YOU CAN GIVE ME

MIKE

Mike,

Nice to hear from you, John Lawton in England recently published his book The Proudest of her Line, The story of HMS Veteran.

The time your Father served in her is covered, and there are some crew photos, but not always identified.

I have asked John if I may pass on his E-Mail address to you, and will be in touch again.

Best regards,
Mac. Gregory.
