Mary (Park) Blais, a survivor of the September sinking of the Athenia?

December 11, 2009

Athenia survivor

I have looked at some of the listings of survivors for my Grandmothers name to no avail. Her name was Mary Blais and would have been listed as a Canadian from Sioux Lookout Ontario Canada. Family history is she was born in Glasgow and immigrated to Canada in the early 1920's. Her maiden name was Park. She had been on a a holiday visiting family in Gasgow. Members of our family recall she was transported to Canada on the ship Duchess of Athlone after the sinking. Can you direct me to any web site that would verify that she was a survivor of the September sinking of the Athenia?

Thank you
Marshall Blais

Marshall,

I regret I do not have all lists of Athenia survivors, those rescued by the Royal Navy destroyers and taken to the Clyde I do not have.

I have looked through the lists I do have, but no Mary Blais.

Best regards,
Mac.
