Liberty Ship Albert M. Boe NOT scrapped

July 13, 2010

(see "Liberty Ship, the Albert M Boe, converted for use as a fish cannery ship, and renamed Star of Kodiak, sent to the scrapper last February" and "Liberty Ship, Star of Kodiak, NOT scrapped?"

Hello,

I just wanted to contribute this photograph to the discussion of the liberty ship Albert M. Boe. She is still here in Kodiak, functioning as the processing plant for Trident Seafoods under the name Star of Kodiak.  The vessel sent to the scrapper in Belgium in April of last year must have been a different ship. Attached is a photo I snapped this morning from the Museum's front lawn.

Congrats on a great website!  Katie

Katie.

Thank you for solving that rumour that Albert M Boe as Star of Kodiak was sent off to be scrapped. Your fine photo has scotched that scrapping report from Holland about the Liberty Ship Albert M Boe going off to Belgium for the last time in 1999.

Steve Swanson was right last year to raise doubts.

Also thank you for your kind comments about AHOY.

Best wishes,
Mac.
