Leonard Edgar Charles Chapman, ordinary seaman, lost in sinking of Voltaire

May 24, 2009

Dear Mac,

Thank you so much for the amazing Ahoy website, and for caring enough to take the trouble to build such a valuable resource.

My Mum's uncle; (her Mum's brother), was Ordinary Seaman Len Chapman and he died when the Voltaire sank. I wondered if you could tell me how I might find out any information about him or whether there might be any mention of him in "Sailors in Cages".

Kind regards,
Barbara Neill-Bottle

Barbara,

Here is Len's Certificate from the Commonwealth War Graves Commission site :

His name is located on Panel 49 Column 1, under Ordinary Seaman.

I could find no mention of Len in Sailors in Cages.
