John Francis Mc Nichol was killed on the Boadicea when she was sunk on the 13/6/1944

Hi,

My father John Francis Mc Nichol was killed on the Boadicea when she was sunk on the 13/6/1944.

He was a leading seaman.

I have at home various papers regarding the Boadicea including the list of all those killed and some newspaper cuttings. I attended the 50yrs memorial service with some of the survivors on a vessel supplied by the royal navy,

We were taken to the exact  location where she lies upright and were able to leave wreathes. It was a beatiful sunny day with no wind and the water was like a millpool it was very erie but nice to be able to lay my father to rest.

If you would like to contact me.

I am using a work colleagues internet access.

John Mc Nichol

Hello John,

Nice to hear from you.

I am sorry to leran that your Father was one of HMS Boadicea's casualties.

I have him listed on AHOY as one of her crew who died on the 13th. of June 1944, here is his entry:

MCNICHOL JOHN FRANCIS A/L/SEAMAN (TY) C/JX 259804 BOADICEA 13/6/1944. MISSING SHIP LOSS

I would be pleased to have a copy of any newspaper cuttings please, and we would add them to our report on the ship's loss, but I have I think all the names of those who died back in 1944.

Your 50th. anniversary journey over her last resting place would I believe help you to say goodbye to your Father.

Thank you for writing, it is always a pleasure to hear from relatives who lost loved ones in WW2 at sea.

Best wishes from Australia.
Mackenzie Gregory.
