Illuminated scroll giving an account of the loss of the Royal Charter

I was Registrar General of Shipping & Seamen until I took early retirement 8 years ago. In my office in the Registry of Shipping in Cardiff was a framed, illuminated scroll giving an account of the loss of the Royal Charter and attached to it was a thin gold ring " taken from the finger of one of the bodies and never claimed and preserved by the Department (Of Wrecks) as a memento"

Dear Gabe,

Thank you for the additional information about the loss of the Royal Charter, it was indeed a tragic shipwreck with so many lives lost.

I wonder if you ever had a photograph of this framed scroll, or even at this distance since your retirement, if it is possible to take a photograph of that scroll that hung in your office? We would love to reproduce it on AHOY for the benefit of a number of people who have an interest in that vessel.

Again my thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you again.

With the Season's Greetings from Australia, and from my Web Master Terry in Atlanta, Georgia.

Mackenzie Gregory.
