Hi, Mac- heartiest congratulations on your 85th. birthday - may you have many more

Hi, Mac- heartiest congratulations on your 85th. birthday - may you have many more.

Get a lot of enjoyment from my regular visits to your site - it intrigues me how it has become a forum for so many people from all over the globe.

Our Committee has done some soul searching lately, not only on our decreasing numbers, but also on those who remain members but can no longer participate in functions such as the Anzac Day March.

We have initiated what appears to be promising talks with the HMAS Australia Association- and if agreement can be reached we will be marching together this year as "R.A.N WW11 Heavy Cruisers".

Best wishes again, and to Denise,

Regards, Arthur Carter

Arthur,

My thanks for your nice wishes.

I guess its good to have survived for so long and still be reasonably active, and AHOY is a great joy to me, like you, I am both surprised and amazed at the interest we manage to generate across the world.

It is a real tribute to my friend, and web master Terry Kearns. in Atlanta Georgia, who turns my sow's ear of scribblings into a silk purse to attract attention from so many sources.

Age certainly takes its toll on both membership and participation at our Association level, it will be fine if you can keep up attendance at Anzac Day functions by joining up with the Australia group.

For my birthday, Denise took us off to the Westin Hotel in our CBD for the night, and my eldest daughter Jayne , husband Graeme, and my Grandson Alexander, took us for a great dinner in a nice place in Flinders Lane, adjacent to the hotel.

I have real problems with a difficult left knee that needs a reconstruction, but a Chinese orthopedic surgeon is starting a series of three injections a week apart on Monday, designed to put a buffer of plastic type material into my knee between the bare bones, he says we have a 70% chance of success, and its likely to last about 18 months before a top up is needed. So, we think its worth a punt.

Again my thanks for your message,

Our regards to you both.
Mac.
