Henry Lawrence Bache died on the  SS Arandora Star 1940

July 30, 2009

Dear Sir

I hope you dont mind me contacting you, i found your email address on the website.

I am currently tracing my family tree and am focusing on my grandfather and great grandfathers branch.

My grandfather died when my father was only a few weeks old so we know very little about our family.

We do know that my great grandfather died on the Arandora Star when it was torpedoed on the 2nd July 1940 off Irelands coast.

I have found his name on the ships crew list, but was wondering, do you have, or know of any photographs in existence of the Arandora's crew at this time?

My greatgrandfather is called Henry Lawrence Bache, he was the ships assistant cook in the merchant navy.

He was aged 59 and was from Liverpool.

If you have any further information, or indeed any photographs, I would be most grateful.

Many thanks in advance, kind regards,
Ursula Largan

Ursula,

No I do not have any crew photos for Arandora Star, but here is a photo of the ship you may not have seen.

Best wishes,
Mackenzie.
