Headstone of Crawford W Willis Captain of the Hospital Ship Madras 1915-1918

January 05, 2010

Dear Mac

While researching the events of WW1 in my town I came across a headstone with info that might be of interest to your correspondent Valerie Turner. ("Fannie Olive Durning, served in WWI as a nurse aboard a hospital ships Loyatly and Madras")

She mentioned that her relative had served aboard the Madras hospital ship. in Tayport New Cemetery, Tayport Fife there is the headstone of " In loving memory of Crawford W Willis Captain of the Hospital Ship Madras 1915-1918, died March 11th 1922."

Perhaps you might pass this on to Ms Turner

Yrs
Jill

Jill,

My thanks for taking the trouble to tell me about the headstone in Tayport cemetery for the Captain of Madras, Crawford W Willis.

I have not kept Valerie's Email address, there are over 800 names in my address book, and some are culled now and
then.

We will add your message on the page where Valerie's correspondence appears on AHOY.

Best wishes for 2010,

Regards,
Mac.
