HMAS SWAN ll

10 September 2013

Hi Mac, Hoping you can help in my research about the HMAS Swan II,any information on stories about the Swan when she was in Darwin and Townsville 1943, or anytime during her career. If anyone can help me get a list of the
crew 1943 and also 1961/62 (there were two (2) christenings on board the Swan. Also three (3) crew where killed in the bombing of Darwin 1943, their memorial is in Plymouth England, question why would this be so as they where in Australian waters and buried at sea off Darwin? Two (2) died in Townsville 1943, but not much is said about there deaths (1 drowned 1 shot over an argument) and both are buried in the Townsville War Cemetery.

Would you also know where the ships bells for the Australia Navy e.g Swan would have been made.

Hoping you can give  me some guidance and help.

Regards,
Elaine
