Decorations for engine room personnel?  HMAS Quiberon night action in the Mediterranean 1st. and 2nd. of December 1942

G’day Mate,

Just read your article above – great stuff. "HMAS Quiberon night action in the Mediterranean 1st. and 2nd. of December 1942"

I am researching a stoker who served on the ship during this period, so it certainly added some ‘meat to the bones’ as it were.

One question though.  At the end of the article it mentions:

11. As a result of the night action and the action against enemy aircraft, I wish to recommend the following Officers and Ratings for decorations. The names are not shown in order of merit, but the attached forms are numbered in order of merit.

Would you know where this list might be so I can see if any of the engine room personnel were mentioned?

Best wishes,
Philip Blackwell

Philip,

My understanding of awards for the 1942 night action to Quiberon's engine room staff were:

Stoker Petty Officer Charles Erickson, Distinguished Service Medal.

Chief Engine Room Artificer William Johnson, Mention in Despatches.

Stoker Cecil Dumbrell, Mention in Despatches.

Best,
Mac.
