Battle of Savo Island

Hi, Mac, hope things are going well - how are the dicky knees holding out?

Mac, have I your permission to print out from your site "HMAS Canberra & the Battle of Savo Island" and give to the grandson of a recently deceased "Canberra" survivor.

The survivor's wife tells me he would never talk about "Canberra" - she says she did get out of him that he felt guilty because he and a mate swapped action stations - he went to a magazine, and his mate went to the engine room - and never came out.

His only grandson has asked her about "Canberra" - so I thought your story would fit the bill.

Regards,
Arthur Carter

Arthur,

You may of course reproduce from AHOY, my account of Canberra and Savo, for the Grandson with my best wishes. Should he in due due course have any questions, please tell him to E-Mail me.

Good to hear from you.

Kindest regards to you both.

Mac.
