Auxiliary Minesweepers

March 2, 2011

Hello,

Further to my recent request for help on the auxiliary minesweeper HMAS Tambar, I have now discovered a list of names of the first trawlers and small coasters requisitioned as auxiliary minesweepers, so that part of my enquiry can be ignored.

Any help with my other questions would be great.

Best wishes (from a snowy Scotland),
Craig Mair

Craig,

Here is a photo of /Tambar:

All the small minesweepers similar to Goorangai and Tambar would have had a crew around 23.

See this URL: http://www1.eguermin.org/training/nms.asp for a description of sweeping for various types of mines.
